Multiplayer Platformworld (alternatively known as Platform Sandbox, Flixelwalker, and Blitwalker) was a tech demo created by Benjaminsen to display the online multiplayer capabilities of PlayerIO[1], and the direct predecessor to Everybody Edits. It was uploaded to Newgrounds and Nonoba on March 1, 2010, under different aliases.[2][3] In a similar fashion to Everybody Edits, the game was an online sandbox platformer where many players could edit the play area in real time.

The game was an unexpected success and would be updated several times in response to player feedback throughout early March 2010. The final update released on March 6, 2010, one day before the first release of Everybody Edits.

Gameplay

In Multiplayer Platformworld, up to 45[4] players (initially represented by red and transparent dots) could connect to a single world and place blocks one at a time. In later versions, players could also choose between six smileys, place gravity arrows, and view the minimap.

Oddities

Unlike Everybody Edits, the world boundaries had no collision and it was possible to fall through them indefinitely. Due to a UI bug, it's possible to select an invalid block, which takes on the appearance of the world boundary.
